Wyeth, Biovail Deal Over Generic Effexor Wins OK

Law360, New York (March 11, 2010, 2:13 PM EST) -- A federal judge has signed off on a settlement in a patent infringement suit brought by Pfizer Inc. unit Wyeth over rival drugmaker Biovail Corp.’s attempt to introduce a generic version of depression and anxiety drug Effexor.

Judge Joseph J. Farnan Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on Wednesday filed a signed consent judgment in the case. While the judgment and the motions seeking its approval were sealed, a representative for Biovail confirmed that a settlement had been reached.
