Sierra Club Can Sue Over W.Va. Mine Pollution: Judge

Law360, New York (March 12, 2010, 6:24 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ruled that the Sierra Club and two other environmental groups have standing to sue a West Virginia coal surface mine operator for water pollution.

Judge Robert Chambers of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia issued the ruling Wednesday, disagreeing with Patriot Coal Corp. subsidiary Hobet Mining Co. LLC, which runs the mine in West Virginia's Lincoln and Boone counties.
