Whirlpool Wins $1.8M In Fridge Patent Suit With LG

Law360, New York (March 12, 2010, 4:44 PM ET) -- A federal jury has awarded Whirlpool Corp. $1.8 million in a dispute with LG Electronics USA Inc. over patents for an in-the-door ice system for side-by-side refrigerators, according to the companies.

After two days of deliberations, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on Thursday found that LG's side-by-side refrigerators infringed Whirlpool's U.S. Patent Number 6,082,130, but that its French door refrigerators did not.
