Obama Taps Magistrate For Eastern District Of Calif.

Law360, New York (March 12, 2010, 6:30 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama has tapped Magistrate Judge Kimberly J. Mueller to become the first female district judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.

If she is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Judge Mueller would take over a seat left vacant by Judge Frank C. Damrell Jr., who has retired, Obama said Wednesday.
