Jury Hands Widow $17.5M In RJ Reynolds Suit

Law360, New York (March 12, 2010, 6:41 PM ET) -- A Florida jury has reportedly directed R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. to shell out $17.5 million in damages to a woman whose husband died of lung cancer after smoking for 38 years.

An eight-member jury in the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida in Alachua County on Friday handed Amanda Jean Hall $12.5 million in punitive damages, on top of the $5 million in compensatory damages it awarded the widow Thursday, according to The Gainesville Sun.
