Patent, Trademark Litigation Rose In 2006: Survey

Law360, New York (December 29, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Patent and trademark litigation rose modestly in 2006, while copyright litigation declined as the music industry pulled back from some of its most aggressive enforcement against online music piracy, court dockets show.

Patent litigation rose 2% in 2006 compared with the preceding year, measured in the number of new cases filed in federal district courts, dockets show.

Trademark litigation rose 2%, while copyright litigation fell 9% in the same period, according to preliminary statistics from U.S. courts.
