Nextep Returns Fire In Duel Over Brawny Trademark

Law360, New York (March 18, 2010, 7:06 PM ET) -- A trademark and false advertising dispute between paper towel maker Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LP and trash bag maker Nextep Inc. over the Brawny trademark for household goods has heated up, with Nextep claiming that it is the senior user of the Brawny mark and accusing Georgia-Pacific of engaging in “reverse confusion” to harm Nextep's reputation.

Nextep lodged counterclaims in the suit, filed by Georgia-Pacific in 2008, on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, alleging unfair competition and the misleading of consumers....
