Samsung Can Depose Witnesses Outside Japan: ITC

Law360, New York (March 22, 2010, 4:00 PM EDT) -- After allowing the majority of depositions from Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. workers to take place near company headquarters in Japan, a federal judge has ordered that remaining witnesses in the patent infringement suit be made available outside of the country because defendant Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. Ltd. would otherwise be prejudiced.

If forced to continue in Japan, Samsung would likely be unable to complete depositions prior to the close of discovery, Judge E. James Gildea of the U.S. International Trade Commission said in an order Friday....
