Matsushita, Nokia, Samsung Sued Over Bluetooth

Law360, New York (January 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A nonprofit has filed a lawsuit against several big-name electronics companies, asserting that a university holds patents covering the Bluetooth wireless data communication system technology the companies use in their products.

Samsung, Nokia, Panasonic and Panasonic’s parent company, Matsushita, willfully infringed patents assigned to the University of Washington, according to the complaint.

The suit was filed in December in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington by the Washington Research Foundation, which assists nonprofit research institutions in Washington state.
