Class Cert. Bid KO'd In Pay Phone Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (March 23, 2010, 2:32 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has denied a bid for class certification in a suit alleging that Puerto Rico's Phoneworks Inc. gouged public telephone customers after winning monopoly control of the market through its close ties with San Juan's mayor.

The plaintiffs failed to adequately allege numerosity, Judge Aida M. Delgado-Colon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico said in an order denying the class certification motion without prejudice.
