Calif. Appeals Court Blocks Furlough Of Lawyers

Law360, New York (March 23, 2010, 2:04 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court has affirmed a decision that the state cannot furlough about 500 lawyers who work for the State Compensation Insurance Fund, saying the attorneys are protected under a provision of state insurance law.

A three-judge panel of the California Court of Appeal for the First Appellate District said Friday that San Francisco Superior Court Judge Peter Busch was right to block the furlough of the attorneys in 2009.
