Ex-Qualcomm Employee Sentenced For Data Theft

Law360, New York (January 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A former Qualcomm Inc. employee who downloaded almost 450,000 files of proprietary source code to his home computer before applying the next day for a job at Nokia Corp. was sentenced to three years probation and fined $5,000 on Wednesday.

Michael Laude, an employee with Qualcomm for 10 years, downloaded “virtually all of Qualcomm’s product line,” information worth millions of dollars, according to the San Diego District Attorney’s Office.
