Wackenhut Guards Lose Bid For Retention Bonuses

Law360, New York (March 26, 2010, 3:46 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has thrown out a class action that alleged Wackenhut Corp. owed former employees a $4,000 retention bonus for continuing to work as security guards at a nuclear power plant even though the private security contractor's contract was due to expire.

Judge Victor Marrero of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted Wackenhut's motion for summary judgment Thursday, saying Wackenhut did not need to pay the bonuses because the employees kept their positions under a different employer.
