Acacia Unit's Cell Phone IP Suit Remains In Play

Law360, New York (March 30, 2010, 3:14 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has ruled that an Acacia Research Corp. unit's suit accusing MetroPCS Communications Inc. of infringing a patent for cell phone network technology includes enough detail to survive a motion to dismiss.

Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Monday denied MetroPCS' motion to drop Celltrace LLC's suit for failure to state a claim, ruling that the complaint met the pleading standards laid out in the U.S. Supreme Court's Twombly and Iqbal decisions.
