Ohio Title Insurance Price-Fixing Class Action Nixed

Law360, New York (April 5, 2010, 5:45 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed a consolidated class action accusing a slew of major title insurers of conspiring with an Ohio rating bureau to fix prices in violation of federal and state antitrust laws.

Judge Sara Lioi of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio on Wednesday dismissed with prejudice both the federal and state antitrust claims in the suit against all defendants, ruling that the plaintiffs' claims were barred by the filed rate doctrine.
