UGA To Pay Inventor $20M Over Restasis Patents

Law360, New York (April 06, 2010, 5:47 PM ET) -- The University of Georgia Research Foundation Inc. has agreed to pay a former university researcher $20.2 million to settle a dispute over a patent licensing deal related to Allergan Inc. dry eye treatment Restasis.

The foundation reached the settlement with inventor Renee Kaswan after a two-day mediation, said Ed Tolley, an attorney at Cook Noell Tolley & Bates LLP who represents the foundation. Kaswan also confirmed the settlement, which resolves litigation in the Athens-Clarke County Superior Court in Georgia.
