BASF, Bayer Target Rivals Over Pesticide Patents

Law360, New York (April 9, 2010, 5:05 PM EDT) -- Agricultural chemical companies BASF Agro BV and Bayer SAS have accused rivals Cheminova Inc. and Makhteshim Agan of North America of planning to sell a pesticide that infringes several patents.

The two separate suits, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, assert five patents held by BASF and Bayer on processes for making and using the insecticide fipronil.
