Kagan, Wood Lead Field To Fill Stevens' Spot: Attys

Law360, New York (April 09, 2010, 12:11 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama has his second chance to appoint a new U.S. Supreme Court justice now that Justice John Paul Stevens has announced he will retire at the end of the current session. U.S. Solicitor General Elena Kagan, Circuit Judges Diane Wood and Merrick Garland, and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar are emerging as leading candidates.

Obama said Friday he would "move quickly" to name a nominee.
