Wal-Mart Settles In Acacia Unit's Fraud Security IP Suit

Law360, New York (April 12, 2010, 6:01 PM EDT) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has reached a settlement in an Acacia Research Corp. unit's infringement suit over a patent for a financial card system aimed at protecting consumers from fraud.

The deal resolves the retail giant's part in a case Financial Systems Innovation LLC brought in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Acacia said Monday in an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, and Acacia and Wal-Mart have not yet filed notice...
