Rockefeller Leads New Senate Push On Mine Safety

Law360, New York (April 13, 2010, 12:04 PM EDT) -- In the wake of a blast at a Massey Energy Co.-operated mine that killed 29 workers, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., is calling for an investigation into the causes behind the tragedy, as well as a sweeping look at underground coal mine safety citations issued nationwide.

Rockefeller, who chairs the Senate Commerce Committee, wrote to the leadership of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Monday, requesting a series of hearings on coal mine safety.
