Insurer Appeals Rejection Of Arbitration In Refund Suit

Law360, New York (April 13, 2010, 4:25 PM EDT) -- Life of the South Insurance Co. is challenging a district court's decision to reject its call for arbitration in a putative class action that accuses the insurer of shirking its obligation to refund unearned premiums to credit insurance policyholders who paid off loans early.

Life of the South filed its notice of appeal challenging the March 31 order denying the company's bid to compel arbitration and dismiss the case in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia on Monday.
