Sierra Fires Preemptive Strike Over Networking Patents

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 1:41 PM EDT) -- Fearing a new round of infringement litigation, Canadian mobile computing company Sierra Wireless Inc. has launched a preemptive attack against Norman IP Holdings LLC over three patents covering networking technology.

The complaint, lodged Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, seeks judgments that three patents controlled by Norman are invalid and not infringed by Sierra, which makes modems, data cards, routers and other products.

The suit also makes the case for currently pending related litigation in Texas to be extinguished....
