Brainard Confirmed To Treasury Post After Delay

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 3:26 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed Lael Brainard as undersecretary for international affairs at the Department of the Treasury, more than a year after President Barack Obama nominated her for the post.

The 78-19 vote came just weeks after Obama chastised Senate Republicans for obstructing his nominees in an effort to score political points.

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, which approved her nomination with a bipartisan majority in December, praised the confirmation as long overdue.
