GOP Questions SEC About Timing Of Goldman Suit

Law360, New York (April 21, 2010, 2:18 PM EDT) -- Republican members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have asked the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to answer questions about the timing of its fraud lawsuit against Goldman Sachs Group Inc., accusing the commission of aiding the Democrats' push for financial reform.

The Republicans, led by ranking member Darrell Issa, R-Calif., wrote in a letter Tuesday to SEC Chairwoman Mary Schapiro that the lawsuit had been widely cited by the proponents of financial regulatory legislation.
