Reps Push To Add Wind, Hail To Insurance Program

Law360, New York (April 21, 2010, 2:41 PM ET) -- As long as wind and flood coverage for homeowners are dealt with in separate policies, there will be gaps in coverage and related disputes after hurricanes, two representatives from the Gulf Coast told a panel of their fellow lawmakers Wednesday.

Reps. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., and Steve Scalise, R-La., were pushing a bill that would incorporate wind and hail claims into the beleaguered National Flood Insurance Program. Their views were aired before the House Committee on Financial Services' subcommittee on housing and community opportunity.
