St. Jude Settles Doctor's Pacemaker Patent Action

Law360, New York (April 21, 2010, 3:30 PM EDT) -- St. Jude Medical Inc. has reached a settlement in a lawsuit brought by a prominent cardiologist alleging the medical device maker stole information about the doctor’s invention and made a pacemaker that infringes his patented technology.

Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas dismissed the case Tuesday, approving a confidential settlement between inventor Dr. Raul Chirife and defendants St. Jude and its Pacesetter Inc. subsidiary.
