Acacia Unit Sues IBM Over Remote Computing Patent

Law360, New York (April 22, 2010, 12:51 PM EDT) -- A unit of patent-licensing company Acacia Research Corp. has accused IBM Corp., Attachmate Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. of infringing a patent for controlling a computer remotely.

The suit, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas by Data Detection Systems LLC, claims the defendants have infringed U.S. Patent Number 5,228,137.

The complaint specifically targets the defendants' systems, applications and security management software, including IBM's Tivoli, Attachmate's AppManager and HP's OpenView.
