Harrah's To Appeal Casino Patent Decision In Suit Vs. Station

Law360, New York (June 22, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Casino operator Harrah's Entertainment plans to appeal a Nevada court’s decision to grant rival Station Casinos, Inc. motion for summary judgment in Harrah’s patent lawsuit over customer recognition technology.

In granting Station's motion, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada last month ruled that one of Harrah’s patents and a portion of another patent are invalid.

The judge ruled two of Harrah's patents invalid "due to indefiniteness and lack of enabling disclosure of the claimed subject matter," but denied other motions by Station seeking...
