US Says Chemtura Still Liable For Enviro Hazards

Law360, New York (April 22, 2010, 7:00 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government has urged a federal court not to let bankrupt Chemtura Corp. off the hook for millions of dollars' worth of environmental liabilities stemming from seven Superfund sites.

In a cross-motion for summary judgment filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the government said Chemtura could not pawn off its obligations through bankruptcy or simply by selling the contaminated properties.
