Goldman Director Gave Rajaratnam Insider Tip: Report

Law360, New York (April 23, 2010, 4:37 PM EDT) -- A Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director reportedly told embattled hedge fund manager Raj Rajaratnam about a $5 billion investment in the bank by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. before the deal was made public.

A government probe has revealed that Goldman director Rajat Gupta told Galleon Group founder Rajaratnam, who is facing insider trading charges, about the deal, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

A Goldman spokesman declined to comment on the report.
