Law360, New York (April 26, 2010, 1:32 PM ET) -- Heathcote Holdings Corp. Inc. has accused makeup giants Maybelline LLC and L'Oreal USA Inc. of marking eyeliner and mascara products with expired patents.
Evanston, Ill.-based Heathcote lodged the false patent marking complaint Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
The suit contends that the packaging on several of L’Oreal's and corporate affiliate Maybelline’s makeup products wrongly claim to be protected by certain U.S. patents that have actually expired.
