Feingold Urges New Curbs On Energy Speculation

Law360, New York (April 29, 2010, 2:58 PM EDT) -- As the price of oil continues to climb, Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., is urging the Senate to increase its oversight of energy traders to curtail risky speculation and bring more transparency to energy commodity markets.

Feingold sent a letter Wednesday to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., seeking new oversight of energy commodity markets in financial regulatory reform legislation currently before the Senate, responding to fears that rising oil prices may hit consumers with higher gas prices as the summer season begins.
