Bon Tool Wins Judgment In False Patent Marking Suit

Law360, New York (April 29, 2010, 3:46 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has ordered The Forest Group Inc. to pay $6,840 for marking several dozen construction stilts with false patents, in a high-profile case with Bon Tool Co. that has spurred a surge of false patent marking suits and prompted calls for statutory reform.

Judge Nancy F. Atlas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued her final judgment Tuesday, imposing a fine of $180 for each of the 38 stilts that were found at trial to bear false patents....
