Deli OT Case Settlement Rejected Over Confidentiality

Law360, New York (April 30, 2010, 4:06 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has rejected a Florida-based deli operator’s proposed $60,000 settlement of an overtime wages case that also alleged the deli owner physically abused a group of former employees, ruling that the deal contains a restrictive confidentiality agreement that would take away employees’ rights.

Judge Steven D. Merryday of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on Wednesday refused to sign off on T.A.S.O. Properties Inc. and the plaintiffs’ settlement agreement.
