France Must Unbundle Too, Says Piebalgs

Law360, New York (January 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Europe’s top energy commissioner has issued a fresh warning that France, which has opposed calls to quell anti-competitive practices in the energy sector through unbundling, will not be exempt from separating production from distribution networks.

"If we act, we have to act for the whole of Europe," European Union energy commissioner Andris Piebalgs told reporters on Wednesday at an energy conference, according to Reuters. “Otherwise we will have problems."
