Jury Awards Soverain $2.5M In E-Commerce IP Suit

Law360, New York (May 3, 2010, 2:27 PM EDT) -- A federal jury has awarded Soverain Software LLC $2.5 million in its patent suit against Newegg Inc. over e-commerce software, but cleared Newegg of several of the infringement allegations.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Friday found Newegg liable for inducing infringement of two of the three patents-in-suit, but cleared the company of direct infringement.

It found Newegg had induced infringement of U.S. Patent Numbers 5,715,314 and 5,909,492 and awarded Soverain $2.5 million in damages.
