University Says Inventor Was Left Off Hepatitis Patent

Law360, New York (January 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An Alabama university has filed a patent lawsuit against a U.S. pharmaceutical company, a French government agency and a French university, accusing the group of excluding one of its former researchers from patents for hepatitis B treatments.

The complaint, filed Jan. 12 in federal court for Alabama’s Northern District, seeks to have the former employee’s name added to four U.S. patents to ensure the school reaps the financial benefits of the technology.
