BP Barred From Forcing Cleanup Workers Not To Sue

Law360, New York (May 4, 2010, 7:08 PM EDT) -- A federal court on Tuesday enjoined BP PLC from requiring that volunteers agree not to sue the company before they can help clean up the vast oil spill resulting from the April 20 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana signed a consent order Tuesday granting plaintiff George Barisich's bid for a temporary restraining order. Barisich is head of the United Commercial Fishermen's Association Inc.
