Photo Compilation Rights Don't Cover Single Pics: Judge

Law360, New York (May 5, 2010, 2:39 PM EDT) -- In what it called a novel question, a federal court has tossed most of a photography company's copyright infringement suit against educational publishing giant Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co., finding that copyrights for photo compilations don't protect the individual photos unless each photographer is listed by name.
