Dewey Reps Vedanta In $1.3B Zinc Assets Purchase

Law360, New York (May 10, 2010, 4:24 PM EDT) -- Vedanta Resources PLC has agreed to buy Anglo American PLC's zinc assets in a deal valued at $1.34 billion that would turn Vedanta into the largest zinc and lead producer in the world.

The all-cash deal, backed by Vedanta's cash assets of $7.2 billion, will cover U.K.-based Anglo American's three major zinc assets, including the Skorpion mine in Namibia; the Lisheen mine in Ireland; and a 74 percent interest in Black Mountain Mining in South Africa, which includes the Black Mountain mine and the Gamsberg project....
