Bill Would Screen More Chemicals In Drinking Water

Law360, New York (May 10, 2010, 1:06 PM EDT) -- Reps. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., and Jim Moran, D-Va., have introduced a bill that would require testing of hormone-disrupting chemicals, potentially increasing what could be regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

The two lawmakers on Wednesday introduced the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Enhancement Act, which would require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that at least 100 chemicals in drinking water are tested within the next four years to determine whether they disrupt the endocrine system.
