Novogen Settles Menopause Supplement Suit

Law360, New York (January 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Australian biotechnology company Novogen Ltd. said Thursday it had settled a Canadian patent infringement lawsuit with Sante Naturelle AG over certain menopause products.

The monetary terms of the deal were undisclosed, but Novogen did say it has granted Sante a license to the patent in question. As a result, the privately held Quebec-based company will continue manufacturing and selling its non-soy based isoflavone supplements.

Among other things, isoflavones have been found to reduce such menopause symptoms as hot flashes.
