GMC Loses Summary Bid In $15M Bumble Bee Fire Suit

Law360, New York (May 11, 2010, 5:59 PM EDT) -- A judge has refused to let GMC Engineering Corp. and Integrand Assurance Co. off the hook in a Bumble Bee Foods Inc. lawsuit claiming they are responsible for a fire that caused $15 million of damage at the canned-fish company's tuna processing plant in Puerto Rico.

Judge Juan Perez-Gimenez found that Bumble Bee’s claims were not time-barred and rejected GMC and Integrand’s bid for summary judgment, according to a ruling filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
