Casino Agreements Draw Opposition From Unions

Law360, New York (January 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- California lawmakers are planning to review special gaming agreements with a group of Southern Californian Indian casinos that could generate more than $500 million for the state this year, but unions and Democrats are voicing concerns that the agreements lack sufficient labor protection for casino workers.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has included $506 million in new revenue from five tribal casinos in his budget proposal, which adds pressure on California Legislature to sign off on the compacts that he made with the tribes.
