Takeda Settles Diabetes Drug Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (May 13, 2010, 6:56 PM EDT) -- The largest drug company in Japan, Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., has settled a patent infringement dispute with India-based generics maker Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. over Takeda's profitable diabetes drug Actoplus Met.

On Tuesday, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed all claims and counterclaims between the two companies. Further information about the settlement was not disclosed.

Osaka, Japan-based Takeda sued Aurobindo in February for allegedly infringing its patents on Actoplus Met, a combination of pioglitazone hydrochloride and metformin hydrochloride.
