Lime Wire Violated Record Labels' Copyrights: Judge

Law360, New York (May 12, 2010, 7:35 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Wednesday ruled that the parent company for Internet file-sharing service LimeWire and its chairman are liable for copyright infringement and other claims brought by 13 major record labels.

Judge Kimba M. Wood of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York found on summary judgment that Lime Group LLC and its chairman, Mark Gorton, induced LimeWire users to infringe the record labels' copyrights when they downloaded music.
