Law360, New York (May 14, 2010, 1:50 PM ET) -- Sony Corp. of America Inc. is facing a proposed class action claiming the Japanese electronics maker sold faulty high-definition televisions that can overheat and melt, posing a fire risk to tens of thousands of U.S. consumers.
Melissa Solis lodged a complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California claiming Sony and two of its units knew about the defect and responded with a “secret recall” designed to keep the issue quiet.
