Lawmakers Press For Trade Overhaul

Law360, New York (May 20, 2010, 7:11 PM EDT) -- A U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on Thursday looked to Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin, among others, for ways to boost trade flow and modernize cargo management without compromising security.

The subcommittee on trade for the House Committee on Ways and Means focused on the commercial operations of the CBP and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, seeking to find a way to better facilitate trade and collect trade duties — activities that have not advanced alongside security enhancements.
