Fishermen Want Court To Oversee BP Oil Spill Payouts

Law360, New York (May 18, 2010, 1:53 PM EDT) -- Louisiana fishermen have asked a federal court to supervise BP PLC's payouts of emergency compensation for fishermen in yet another putative class action lodged against the oil giant and others over the ongoing Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The motion, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, requests that the court oversee BP's emergency interim claims processing program or appoint a special master because the oil giant is allegedly putting unreasonable burdens on the fishermen seeking payment.
