RIM, Prism Settle Dispute Over Data Security Patent

Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 4:02 PM EDT) -- Research In Motion Ltd. has settled litigation in federal district court and the U.S. International Trade Commission alleging that the smartphone maker's BlackBerry devices infringe a data security patent owned by Prism Technologies LLC.

Judge Lyle E. Strom of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska approved the parties' joint motion to dismiss the case Tuesday. A joint motion to terminate the ITC investigation, filed Monday, is pending.

The parties sought to end the dispute based on a confidential license and settlement agreement. RIM...
